Would you like to achieve your biggest goals?
Looking for a step by step strategy to help you achieve them? Who wouldn’t right?
I’ve recently completed a goal setting exercise which has changed my life (seriously). It’s made me understand exactly what I want to achieve in life and has made me create an Action Plan to help me achieve those goals (with allocated dates, tick boxes for each action & an accountability partner to make sure I stick to the plan).
Watch the goal setting video or read the detailed steps below to ensure you achieve your biggest goals. Don’t just consume this content – take action!
Note: This exercise works a lot better when you complete it with at least one other person (colleagues, employees, friends, family etc.) This is because your ‘accountability partners’ will hold you accountable for the actions you have set out to take to achieve your goals. A weekly review meeting with your peers works really well to motivate you to implement these actions.
What is your perfect day? What would you be doing? Where would you be? What would you do to make money? What would you be doing to make yourself and the people you care about happy?
You can write your ideal day out in bullet points, as a story, record a video – do it in a way which works for you.
The idea behind this is it will make you think about what you truly want to achieve in life, who with and where you’d want to be.
Write down the top 3 goals you need to achieve or maintain in the next 12 months to make your vision a reality. Write down 3 goals for the following areas: Family, Relationships, Business, Money, Health, Recreation & Inner Growth.
Tip 1: Write these goals as if you have achieved them already e.g. I earn X amount per year
Tip 2: Once you have written these goals print them out and stick them somewhere where you will see them every day e.g. on your wall, next to your desk etc.
For Each of the 21 goals write an action plan outlining every single step you need to take to achieve that goal. Make it so annoyingly simple and step by step that anyone could follow it and achieve it. Date every step and add it to your calendar to ensure you take action.
Break your Action Plan steps down into 4 sections;
1. Daily Actions
2. Weekly Actions
3. Monthly Actions
4. Date related actions (1 off actions that need to happen on specific dates.
Tip 1: Hold a weekly review meeting with your peers to talk about how you have got on with the Action Plan.
Tip 2: Once you have written this Action Plan print it out and stick it next to your goals.
How does the saying go…’You can lead a horse to water…’
I’ve given you all the resources you need to achieve your goals, now TAKE ACTION!
